I think in the middle of a really crappy week, it sometimes feels like you are at the bottom of a very dark, very deeeep hole that you'll never get out of and that everything is shrouded in different shades of Evil and Annoying and basically life just seems bad for the moment.
And then Friday comes along and you melt into the weekend and you manage to completely dissociate from the last Really Bad week, and in retrospective you realize that maybe things weren't quite so Really Bad but maybe more Kinda Sucky and that you're gonna be OK. And then Monday rolls around and the whole process starts allll over again.
Anyway, in light of a Kinda Sucky week, I thought I would post some of my favorite, little moments, either from everyday life or from special parts of my past, just to remind myself that things are and can be OK because they have been before...and maybe also to remind you too :)
1. The smell of summer when I walk up the stairs. Can this be a scent? Does SUNSHINE and FREEDOM and WARMTH have a fragrance?
2. Dipping my feet into the sea which has the perfect temperature, and feeling warm and breezy and at the edge of the world.
3. The sting and rawness of my fingertips after playing the guitar strings too hard and for too long.
4. Hearing a song that hardly ever plays on the radio anymore come on at just the right moment.
5. Watching Nick's reactions to my favorite movie (HINT: He was into it.)
6. Waking up way too early to take advantage of a free breakfast in town, and then saying good morning to everyone who walks past.
7. Taking a selfie with a friend in a totally hip place, with the sun shining in our faces, with a really cool, polaroid camera.
8. Hearing a really pathetic, familiar story recounted by a friend and then laughing so hard that I have spasms on the floor (not surprisingly, there is photographic evidence of this moment that has fondly been named The Day I Died).
9. Talking about dreams (not the goal kind of dreams, like actual, going to sleep dreams) at 5 a.m. with my best friend and then casually announcing what "stage" of sleep we woke up in every morning after.
10. Good Times at the Movie Theatre (Subcategories: Breaking Dawn part 1- girl practically puking while running down the stairs, The Lion King Sing-Along Version- being the only people older than 5 in the theatre, The Lego Movie- little girl loudly announcing she has to pee just as there is a lull in the music, I Am Number Four- watching the villain put a spinning ball of razors into a guy's mouth and me actually screaming by sheer reflex, etc.)
Well, what are your favorite moments?
Love,
Danielle
